Debunking Motor Oil Myths

When trying to choose the right motor oil for your vehicle, you are likely to run into a few myths about the product and the process. As such, the Hatfield Kia team has decided to debunk a few of the more common myths to ensure that drivers can always be well-informed.

It is often said that if you opt to use synthetic motor oil in your vehicle once, you will then need to use it every time. However, this simply isn't true. Switching up your choice of motor oil will have absolutely no adverse effects on your vehicle's engine.

It is also quite common to hear people claim that if your motor oil is black, then it must be replaced. Again, however, this is not the case. The dark color in black motor oil is simply dirt particles that it has pulled out of your engine. In other words, the dark color means that the oil is doing its job. As such, it is a better idea to stick to the manufacturer's recommended oil-change frequency instead of guessing based on color.
